Natural Sunburn Remedy

If you’re suffering from a fiery sunburn, you’ll want to get your hands on some coconut oil!

I’m pretty lucky to have olive skin which tans effortlessly and rarely gets burnt.  My boyfriend..not so lucky.  We were out on a 2 hour bike ride and decided to go shirtless to get a bit of a tan (I had a sportsbra on so don’t think I’m some kind of exhibitionist).  It was only an hour after we got back home that my boyfriend turned bright red all over his back and chest.  I immediately thought to rub coconut oil on him since I really didn’t have anything else.  I keep the coconut oil in the fridge to keep it solidified so the cooling sensation on the skin was the first thing he loved about this remedy.  For several days, I applied the coconut oil on him 1-2 times per day, usually before going to bed.  I have to say, the results are fantastic!  The redness dramatically reduced after the first night and although he was in a bit of pain for a few days, the coconut oil moisturized his skin so well that it prevented him from peeling. Can you believe that? No peeling!

I CANNOT say enough wonderful things about coconut oil and it’s infinite uses.  Once you start moisturizing your body with coconut oil. you’ll never want to buy another expensive cream packed with chemicals.  Remember: your skin soaks up any cream or lotion you put on it so the less chemicals the better.

Today’s FitTip: Buy a jar of organic coconut oil
